August 09 - Part 1, Summer Fun

Well August is too recent in my memory so I have a little bit more to say about it, and more photos to highlight it.  You can check out the entire August 09 album, and the first part of the highlights are below.

August was a much better month than July.  I decided that, because morning sickness and aversions were making it darn near impossible to get adequate calories from the Paleo Diet (which I still thoroughly recommend for both health and weight loss, seriously), to add rice and more fruit back into my diet.  I had some fairly horrendous first days when my body adjusted, but after that I have been so very much better.  Around the same time I started taking thyroid medication too, so that presumably has something to do with my improved health.  Before those two changes, during this pregnancy, I was barely living; I stayed on the couch or in bed most of the time and I was out of breath from walking short, short distances.  Perhaps now you can forgive me for not blogging?  :)

Anyway... the photos?

In the early part of August, Regin and George played in the grass.

We visited the library (no more book shopping since George still doesn't have a job) which apparently includes this kind of activity:

We had some cousin time right before the Moffetts left Colorado (after a lengthy stay) to go back to Idaho and school.

Laughing at the fact that Regin's underwear had fallen down around his ankles.

I read lots about the unschooling philosophy (more on that later).  And was so inspired that Regin and I had an unschooling activity day (actually all of our days are unschooling, but I was inspired to nudge Regin into the activities on this day.)

We made lots of play dough bears.  Regin assembled the red one on the right.  Don't you love that he put the arms on the head?  I know that's what most kids do, but I still love it.

We also made a bowl of cereal.

And he had so much fun gluing stuff in the activity time during the Denver Library's storytime that I decided to whip out the ole construction paper and do something with him.

He loves this.  He's so proud of it.  It's another bowl of cereal.  I wasn't terribly creative that day, and apparently I was hungry!

Part 2 of August coming shortly!
