Greetings from Thailand!
Yesterday we went to see the Reclining Buddha, drove near where the protesting is still going on (at the parliament building) but didn't see anything because we weren't all that close, rode the Sky Train around town, window shopped the night market, spent some time in Ocean World (for Regin), window shopped at MARC JACOBS for about five minutes, and shopped at one of the best supermarkets ever! (Or maybe we're just a little limited in awesome grocery stores in Penang.) This morning I had the spoils of our supermarket trip: cherries and (fresh tasting!) Gruyere cheese for breakfast. Mmmmm...Today we plan to see the Grand Palace, amulet market, maybe a dinner cruise, and figure out how we're going to get to Chiang Mai tomorrow.
We're seeing a lot of homeless people and beggars. My experience of the city is still dirty, but I think we're staying in the slums at our hotel. The other adjective to use is "trafficky". We spent most of our private, three-hour tour in traffic. We were supposed to see "temples"and we saw "temple".
Taking hundreds and hundreds of photos, but my camera's focus isn't working well. So expect lots of imperfect photos when we get back to Penang!

Thank you kera for keeping us up to speed...speed might be the wrong word to use seeing that the traffic is so slow!!
