Week 31
WEEKEND, October 10th - 12th
It's a big old weekend of nothing. Shanti cancelled on us for babysitting Friday because of the rain! OK, it's a SERIOUS rainstorm, but really? Rain? So... no dancing for us Friday night. I'm actually relieved though because I didn't feel like going out. The thing about being a parent is you have to schedule your own play time in advance, so no going out when you feel like it. The thing about being a parent in a foreign country is you have fewer people to babysit, and no one for spur-of-the-moment-no-notice outings; it's scheduled, or no outings at all.
We're having intense, nightly rainstorms. The rainstorm on Sunday is unbelievable. And the accompanying thunder is like nothing I've heard. George and I actually look outside to make sure we're not being bombed! We try our best to make sure Regin doesn't succomb to fear when he hears loud noises. I've been saying "Wow!" with every loud noise for a year or so. For the most part it has worked and he's so cute when he says, "Wow!" every time I put on the blender or drop a pot. But this time... there is little we can do. Frankly, tonight the thunder makes me a little nervous too.
We're still planning that Thailand trip. Will it ever happen?
When you spend time doing a whole lot of nothing, you may actually occupy yourself by deciding that weird Nessy-like thing in the distance is really just a piece of drift wood.
Sounds ridiculous, but George and I swear we saw a huge snake swimming by one day. And I mean HUGE. It was probably a combination of drift wood and rippling waves, but it looked convincing from a distance!
