Penang -- Week 20 -- And the City

Week 20
FRIDAY, July 25th
We saw a movie Friday.  "And the City."  Have you heard of And the City?  It's about these four forty-something gals in New York city, their love lives and their friendships.  It's based on this really popular American TV show called something scandalous like Sex and the City.  I think the movie posters here have the same name on them, but after seeing the movie I can assure you that it's really just And the City.  I don't know if the censorship cut out all the good parts, but And the City is not a very good movie. I suspect that adding that other word in front won't change the overacting and underwriting, but at least I wouldn't have to roll my eyes when two (gay) men presumably give each other a New Year's peck on the lips or go "achhh" every time a maybe-love-scene is hacked up to bits.
I just don't understand why we don't have the slick edited-for-TV versions we get in the States.  But I think the censors want to remind us every time they slice and dice.  "You are watching something sinful! Avert your eyes!  Shelter your brain!"
Guess what?  My laptop has died altogether.  It won't turn on anymore.  Anything that didn't transfer over yet may be gone.  And I can't use my Final Cut (editing) software on my new computer.  The computer is too new for my old software!  And the new software is like $1200USD!  So, if you have been waiting on a video project (and those of you who are have already been waiting a year or two or three), your wait may just be indefinite.

Dinner at the international hawker market.  We go fairly regularly.  Sadly I always get Mexican (spicy chicken tostada) since I haven't found any other fare suitable for hypoglycemics.  I don't mind too much though.  It is a yummy tostada, prepared by an authentic American!

Before we went to the movies, Regin wowed us with his new stacking skills.  Previously he only knew how to destruct the stacks we built.
Stuck in horrible traffic in the mall parking garage after the movie:
...so I played a little with George's iPhone:

LOL! You know, I'm ashamed to admit that for a minute there, I was like "And the City... hmm... no, I've never heard of it." And then after a while I was like "OH!" That's hilarious, though.

just to clarify, the traffic was before the movie which caused us to miss the movie we really wanted to see. I don't remember the name of the movie but it was a Japanese movie.

My bad. That's right. The traffic was before the movie. It took us FORever to park.

Maybe I should clear another thing up since Reem wasn't the only one I fooled. It's not called "And the City" here. It's called "Sex and the City" just like in the States. It's the same movie (I think) just with all the parts removed that the islamic censors deemed not viewable. Hence my joke. Man, see, when you have to explain it... :P
