Today we go to Children's Hospital because Regin is having inguinal hernia repair (surgery). I'm not as scared about it today yet as I was yesterday. But it's still early. Send us lots of happy thoughts!
UPDATE: At 11:50 or so they took him back for his surgery. We were seen by about 10 different people (nurses, doctors, surgeons, anesthesiologists) and asked almost the same questions every time. Any medical problems for him? In his family? Allerigies, etc?? Previous surgeries??? Problems with anesthesia???? Several of them looked at his rash to make sure it was ok for surgery. The surgeon decided he would be giving him some antibiotics just to be on the safe side. Everyone has trouble with his name. I was fine all day today until we went out to the waiting room just now and all I could think about was my little boy, alone with a bunch of strangers, taking him to who knows where, to do who knows what. I felt I broke his trust. I'm a little nervous about the rash too, it could complicate things if they are wrong about it. Plus I don't really like the idea of giving him antibiotics.
2nd UPDATE: The surgeon came and spoke with us. Regin's surgery is over. It went fine. We'll be back to see him shortly.
3rd UPDATE: We're with him now. He's groggy and sleepy and all the muscles in his face are limp so he looks a little pudgier than usual. He woke up very briefly and nursed. It's good to hold him again, and be able to reassure him. My biggest issue today was the idea that he had no clue what was going on and I wasn't with him to reassure him. We will stay here with him in the hospital at least another half hour, but we may be here longer waiting for him to come to a bit more.
