How We're Doing Update

I just updated the "How we're doing right now" section with the following:

October 3rd, 2008
I'm really feeling settled these days. Life here doesn't seem that unusual anymore. I'm starting to understand the appeal of the run-down look a little more (authenticity, history, colors, nature/chaos prevailing over man-created order, etc..) I have totally fallen in love with some aspects of life here (beautiful scenery, lots of holidays, exposure to diverse and rich cultural traditions to name a few).

But you know what? I am just now starting to possibly feel the first pangs of home sickness. I think it's because living here has really become solidified now. It's like, OK, so this is really my reality. But wait! I miss my old reality!

But the one negative that dominates for me is our ant/gecko/roach infestation. I can't see ever being content living here for that reason. I rarely see the geckos, but they are still leaving poops inside the kitchen cabinets. The roaches only come out late at night, and we rarely see full-sized ones. They're mostly these minuscule little things. The ants, however are an unbelievable nightmare and if I could choose to depopulate the entire globe of ants to be rid of them forever, I absolutely would. I don't care how 'green' and worried about animals I am.

We have at least two colonies permanently camped out in our walls. I know this because both colonies moved locations recently and we saw them, with eggs and everything in tow, right before we killed as many as we could.

They don't just show up where there is food, they have NUMEROUS scouts in EVERY place. They're in our kitchen drawers, on our clean plates, cups, and silverware, and I have even seen them crawling up and into our apparently not-so-air-tight, glass, drinking-water containers.

It's so bad that even I, the complete chemical phobe who makes all of her own household cleaners herself, am seriously considering fumigating the place.

Other than that, we're dandy!
How are you??

You might want to like living there a little longer. It's about to get real ugly over here in the good ole US of A. Let us know if you might have some extra space for us to move into.

Other than the total and complete heist that just took place, things are just peachy!

Don't listen to him. He doesn't even have a valid passport right now so he's not going anywhere, lol. You're missing all kinds of debates right now though (I don't mean the presidential ones, I mean the ones we have). Things haven't gotten crazy over here.

Keith!?!?!? No valid PASSPORT? What are your escape plans for whatever fit hits the shan? Better get that passport ready! Never know when you might really want to use it!

I'm getting worn out with the politics. I wasn't caring about it at all. I believe the elections are a distraction to make the American people feel they have some control. And honestly I didn't think it mattered who was in the White House as long as it wasn't Bush anymore. Now, I'm sad to say, I'm getting sucked in and starting to care again. And I'm getting so irritated by all the politicking in my face on Facebook, that it's forcing me to engage in a discourse I'm somewhat against taking part in. But how do I respond to it without taking part? It also forces me to choose a side, an obvious choice for me but something I don't believe in doing.

Right now George and I are having our own debates on things like vaccines (again, ugh....) and research regarding what is safe for Regin's consumption. This seems to always lead down the path to conspiracy theory -- a shame since that makes a lot of people not listen to otherwise (potentially) legitimate concerns, and George, for one, is getting awfully tired of listening.

Have you guys heard of Codex Alimentarius? That's the one I'm learning about today. This comes out of my research yesterday which ended up discussing why the FDA says Stevia isn't safe but Aspartame is. Every piece of research always pulls up some new thing that scares me in another direction. Something I read about during my Codex Alimentarius research is fluoride. I've heard plenty before, but this time it was suggested that it's being used to make us more docile/compliant, and that the gestapo used it for that purpose. That's totally new to me. Need to research that further. What will that research turn up?

Today I'm also hearing a suggestion that the environmental movement is something that world powers are utilizing to distract us. And that the energy-saving light bulbs we're all supposed to start using are putting mercury into our trash which goes into our landfills and then into our water supplies. Now is that just something that wasn't thought through? Conspiracy theorists would always say no. THe government is necessarily behind it, and it is using it to either dumb us down and keep us quiet, or control population growth or both. But you know, whether or not that's true doesn't change the fact that I don't want mercury in my water. Ugh! It's all too much!

And all of this is swimming around and around in my brain without even paying as much attention to the election-related politics as you all are. Ack! I want the blue pill! No! The red pill! No! blue pill! No red! AAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

Actually Ms. teddisheree is wrong. My passport is still valid - it expires this year and I am in the process of renewing it this month.

Flouride, a mind numbing toxin? I'd say Flouride is more dangerous in the rest of your body as a carcinogen (inarguably, the brain included).

Flouride isn't required to dumb us down - everyone has a TV for that. There is no conspiracy theory required for the TV argument, as evidenced by how powerful it is in shaping public opinion on everything from HFCs to OJ (the Simpson) to politics. Of course the same tool can be used to shape people's opinion for educating them about things that are actually good for them to know. The issue is getting people off the couch to take action and educate others.

That's just the point. The TV is a stupor we can wake from, if you smack our faces hard enough. But mind-altering drugs are a different story... I'm still looking for a very credible source for this, but this is what I read:

The following letter was received by the Lee Foundation for Nutritional Research, Milwaukee Wisconsin, on 2 October 1954, from Mr. Charles Perkins, a chemist:

"I have your letter of September 29 asking for further documentation regarding a statement made in my book, The Truth About Water Fluoridation, to the effect that the idea of water fluoridation was brought to England from Russia by the Russian Communist Kreminoff. "In the 1930's, Hitler and the German Nazi's envisioned a world to be dominated and controlled by a Nazi philosophy of pan-Germanism. The German chemists worked out a very ingenious and far-reaching plan of mass-control which was submitted to and adopted by the German General Staff. This plan was to control the population in any given area through mass medication of drinking water supplies. By this method they could control the population in whole areas, reduce population by water medication that would produce sterility in women, and so on. In this scheme of mass-control, sodium fluoride occupied a prominent place. ...

"Repeated doses of infinitesimal amounts of fluoride will in time reduce an individual's power to resist domination, by slowly poisoning and narcotizing a certain area of the brain, thus making him submissive to the will of those who wish to govern him. [A convenient light lobotomy]

"The real reason behind water fluoridation is not to benefit children's teeth. If this were the real reason there are many ways in which it could be done that are much easier, cheaper, and far more effective. The real purpose behind water fluoridation is to reduce the resistance of the masses to domination and control and loss of liberty.

"When the Nazis under Hitler decided to go into Poland, both the German General Staff and the Russian General Staff exchanged scientific and military ideas, plans, and personnel, and the scheme of mass control through water medication was seized upon by the Russian Communists because it fitted ideally into their plan to communize the world. ...

"I was told of this entire scheme by a German chemist who was an official of the great IG Farben chemical industries and was also prominent in the Nazi movement at the time. I say this with all the earnestness and sincerity of a scientist who has spent nearly 20 years' research into the chemistry, biochemistry, physiology and pathology of fluorine--any person who drinks artificially fluorinated water for a period of one year or more will never again be the same person mentally or physically."
CHARLES E. PERKINS, Chemist, 2 October 1954.
